Digital Transformation - Presentation on Hans Böckler Foundation
At a conference of the Hans Böckler Foundation on November 28, 2024, Sina Häusler presented a study that focuses on employees who increasingly must find their way in complex legal and data protection landscapes. A new competency of workers is the ability to understand and interpret data privacy statements, which is essential to many work-related processes. In her article, she argues that gig workers need more transparency to understand data protection and privacy. With the rise of data-driven industries and the increasing reliance on personal data in various organizational processes, workers must not only be aware of privacy concerns but also understand the legal and ethical implications of data collection, usage, and sharing. The paper discusses the challenges workers face in interpreting privacy statements, which are often written in complex legal jargon. The article was written as part of the third-party funded project “Platform work and data protection: market actors, problem areas, regulatory requirements nationally and internationally”.
