Basics
Various models exist for the management of data in general and research data in particular. Particularly noteworthy is the DCC Curation Lifecycle Model of the Digital Curation Center (DCC) and the UK Data Archive's Research Data Lifecycle. The derived concept of Research data management (RDM) covers all organizational activities connected with research data. These activities include collecting, preparing, processing, analyzing, saving, archiving, and publishing research data. In this regard, standardized metadata and repositories play an important part in ensuring the verifiability and reusability of digital research data.
In the following, we offer you a collection of some basic aspects regarding research data. Mostly, we directly refer to the information portal forschungsdaten.info, which aims to provide the latest information on research data thanks to its collaborative approach. Whenever necessary, however, we supplement this general information with specific information concerning the TU Dresden. In particular, the Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice are of importance.
