Prof. Andrés Lasagni is one of the Photonics100 of the year 2025
Prof. Andrés Lasagni, Chair of Laser-based Manufacturing at TU Dresden, Director of the Center for Advanced Micro-Photonics (CAMP) at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS and co-founder of SurFunction GmbH, has been included in the prestigious 2025 Photonics100 list. This award recognizes the most influential and innovative personalities in the field of optics and photonics.
Optics studies the behavior and properties of light, while photonics enables its practical applications, such as in laser technology and medical diagnostics.
The Photonics100 has been published for three years by the specialist journal "Electro Optics" from the publisher Europa Science and nominates the players in four categories:
- Photonics suppliers
- Original equipment manufacturers that use photonics
- Start-ups
- Science and research
Lasagni was selected for its outstanding pioneering work in the development and application of optical concepts for micromaterial processing. In particular, he has made groundbreaking progress in the field of Direct Laser Interference Patterning. With over 30 patents and more than 300 scientific publications, he has made a significant contribution to the further development of this field of technology and created innovative solutions for industrial applications.
