On June 27, 2024, an excursion to BASF Schwarzheide GmbH took place with a total of 22 participants, including 16 students and 6 Research Assoc iates from Energy Process Engineering, Mechanical Process Engineering and Chemical Process Engineering. The trip began at 8 a.m. in Dresden, from where the group set off together on a bus towards Schwarzheide.
The visitors arrived at the BASF Schwarzheide GmbH site at around 9 am. The day began with a warm welcome and a comprehensive presentation of the company and the Schwarzheide site. Exciting insights were given into the history and the various fields of activity of BASF in Schwarzheide.
This was followed by a get-together, during which the participants had the opportunity to make initial contacts and ask questions. The subsequent presentation of the individual plant engineers and their work was particularly impressive.

At lunchtime, BASF invited the entire group to a sponsored lunch. This provided a welcome opportunity to exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere and to process the impressions gained so far.
The highlight of the excursion was the tour of two plants. Under the expert guidance of the responsible engineers and production managers, the complex processes and technical facilities could be viewed at close quarters. The engineer's explanations helped to link the theoretical knowledge from the course with practical implementation in industry. The event ended at around 4 p.m. when all participants had arrived back in Dresden.
The excursion to BASF Schwarzheide GmbH was an extremely enriching experience for everyone, offering not only valuable insights into industrial practice, but also the opportunity to make valuable contacts and gain new perspectives for their future careers.
