Call for proposals for ESF PLUS JUNIOR RESEARCH GROUPS at TU Dresden

As part of the ESF Plus University and Research Directive of the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK), junior research groups are to be funded from November 1, 2025, generally for a period of up to three years.

The aim of the funding is to exploit the individual educational potential in the higher education sector, especially of women, in order to improve entry opportunities in Saxon science and industry and to counteract the growing shortage of skilled workers.

Through joint research work, young researchers are to be empowered with regard to a stable, green, sustainable and digital economy in the Free State of Saxony as well as to increase the transfer of knowledge and technology and to build networks between Saxon universities and the economy as well as for teaching.

Project proposals must first be submitted by the TU-internal deadline of February 10, 2025 as a formal project proposal in German plus a budget table for the TU-internal pre-evaluation. Project proposals not submitted by the deadline cannot be considered for selection. After completion of the internal TU evaluation, the selected project proposals must be expanded to 15 pages and qualified for submission to the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB) by 01.04.2025 at the latest. The EPC supports the applicants in this process and submits the project proposals on time via the TU Dresden account on the funding portal of the Sächsische Aufbaubank.

The SAB and SMWK then select eligible project proposals in competition with proposals from other Saxon universities in the so-called transition region and invite them to submit a full application.
