General information
IRGET offers the certificate course IP|Express in cooperation with the Excellence Center for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship TUD|excite starting in the winter semester 2024/25.
The certificate course provides participants with application-related knowledge with regard to Intellectual Property, in particular patent law. The course will focus in particular on their importance for research-based innovation projects and start-ups.

Participation Requirements
Target Group: All members of TU Dresden regardless of their status (students, employees, professors)
Language: German, English (participation in English-language events is required to obtain the certificate, knowledge of German is not required.)
Format: Both face-to-face and online events are offered. Attendance at at least one face-to-face event is required to obtain the certificate.
Structure

Überblick IP|Express
The certificate course consists of two modules. The modules can be taken at the same time.
Module 1: Fundamentals of IP Protection
The courses in this module are introductory courses. Participation in one of the courses listed above is required to complete this module.
Module 2: Specialization
In this module, participants should acquire more specialized knowledge in the field of intellectual property rights. The courses in this module are generally held by experts with practical experience in the respective fields. All courses in this module are taught in English.
The courses offered in this module consist of two types of courses:
- IP|Express Talks: Lectures by invited experts with changing topics: 2-4 lectures/semester with different topics, 90 minutes each, face-to-face
- IP|Express Workshops: Delve into a topic with experts to develop a better understanding of intellectual property and strategies 1-2 workshop(s)/semester, 2 - 3 x 90 minutes each, face-to-face
This offer is supplemented by the course offered in cooperation with the European Patent Office: "Create - Protect - Innovate | Bringing Ideas to Market (Part II)"
To complete this module, participants must attend
- 4 IP|Express Talks or
- 2 P|Express Talks and 1 IP|Express Workshop or
- 1 IP|Express Talk or 1 IP|Express Workshop and the course offered in cooperation with the European Patent Office: "Create - Protect - Innovate | Bringing Ideas to Market (Part II)".
Certificate "IP|Express Certificate on Specialized Knowledge in Intellectual Property Rights"
Prequisite for the award of the certificate is the provision by the participants of proof of participation in Module 1 and Module 2. Proof of participation must be submitted to the Junior Professorship Kaesling after completion of the modules.
